Champion of My Heart Blog Archive Taking the No Shock Collar
A while back, Stephanie Feldstein, the creatures editor for Change.org, contacted me about our Never Shock a Young Dog efforts. She asked tons of questions through email. I responded, and the result is that article. A Lot Of thanks to her for the interest and enthusiasm.
Now, Back to Our Planned Topic!
Lilly and I are so delighted that we could return the favor to Stephanie by asking those of you who agree with our quite community stance against shock collars to sign that petition, asking Petsmart to stop vending shock collars. Please.
Hey, Petsmart, Put The Funds Where The Mind Is
Or Perhaps the mouth where the funds is or perhaps the shelves where the heart is or perhaps some talented thing that I am apt to't pretty work out yet.
Here's the red meat.
Petsmart uses and touts award-based puppy coaching through its in-shop puppy coaching courses. Throughout a tour of a Petsmart shop as part of a VIP thing at the first BlogPaws occasion in Columbus, Ohio, last spring, our tour guides clarifieds how Suzanne Hetts (who's a PhD creature behaviorist here in Colorado I've recognized her for ages) assisted develop the puppy coaching programs Petsmart proffers.
The corporation's advertising materials for the courses brag that award-based coaching is "scientifically corroborated to be the most operative technique,"
yet, just down the aisle from their in-shop courses, the corporation vends shock collars.
Wouldn't you love to know what number of they vend? Or Perhaps, how much funds the shops make off of shock collars? Do you think they make more from puppy coaching courses or perhaps from shock collars?
The correspondent in me is dying to know, however indeed all that I think about is that they stop vending shock collars both:
As I oppose them on principle
As persons who acquire them over the counter (as it were) are expectedly ill prepared to use them correctly (if there's such a thing)
There's a widget in our web-log sidebar for the petition, however we're in addition posting it here.
We'd love the support.
That post is part of the quarterly Be the Change For Creatures web-log roundup.

Question by honeyswife: Has anybody had success with a vibration/shock puppy coaching collar?
I have a Two yr old quite hyper female rottie that has some adverse demeanor with fixating on hunting vehicles up the driveway contrariwise of the hedge, and now going mad at my sisters horses contrariwise of the hedge. She will not answer to anybody when either distraction is there and you mightn't get close her she takes off and then returns to the mad barking. I would like to attempt a vibration/shock collar that is distant manipulated to break her fixation and get her to pay attention since nothing else has worked. Has anybody else applied that in coaching a difficult to train puppy? Are they safe when applied responsibly? I don't wanna hurt her however her demeanor will get her wounded if she gets out and get's in that horse pen the horses will kick her. And she's only deteriorating in her fixation on cars and bigger creatures not greater as she gets comfortable to them being there. Any propositions would be remarkable. She in addition has a acre of yard so she has scores of room to run just is so hyperactive although.
